A Christmas tree in the horizontal plane

What a tree! A proud 17.50 metres high and weighing 4.5 tonnes is the spruce that lights up the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin at Christmas 2019. This gem comes from a forest in Bad Lobenstein, Thuringia, around 300 kilometres away. From there, heavy-duty specialist Universal Transport picked up the selected specimen. When loading onto the low-loader, which is equipped with BPW axles, the greatest care was taken to ensure that the log does not break when it is lowered. Then the branches were carefully tied together and the tree well secured – and the journey to the capital could begin. After the tree had been set up, six decorators spent almost a week decorating the spruce with thousands of lights and hundreds of baubles.
