Heavy load in the land of the pharaohs

The people of ancient Egypt moved huge stones for their buildings with the help of clever strategies. Today, such projects are supported by modern technology, but there are still great challenges to overcome. Heavy lift specialist Universal Transport was commissioned to carry out 200 heavy transports for the construction of one of the world’s largest gas-fired power plants. Due to its dimensions, the company transported a 192-ton transformer safely to its destination in a sophisticated train-push unit. 16 BPW modular axles were used, and a team of ten accompanied the 300-kilometre journey. The weeks of planning in advance paid off: the two-day trip went smoothly.
