Fuel for “Down Under“
This four-link tanker can hold a whole 158,000 litres of diesel: As much liquid as five standard tankers – or 210,000 bottles of wine. The gross mass of the combination is 186.5 tonnes. That makes it the largest fuel-carrying road train combination in the world. The Australian haulage company Fuel Trans drives the 60-metre-long PBS Quad road train for Recharge Petroleum, which supplies fuel to the north and north-west of “Down Under”. Vehicle builder Tieman relies on BPW axles with Airlight II air suspension as well as a rolling hitch for the four tankers with a specially designed drawbar that prevents the rear sections from tipping over.
