Powerhouse for tree trunks

Founded more than 100 years ago as a craftsman’s business, the family-owned company Schwaiger Holzindustrie is now an internationally active industrial company that processes more than 1.2 million solid cubic metres of timber annually. Since 2020, the handling excavator 835 E from SENNEBOGEN, the world market leader for loading systems, has been used for transport – together with a trailer built by ISM IndustrieService Müller GmbH and equipped with five 20-tonne axles from BPW Bergische Achsen KG. Logs up to five metres long and weighing almost 80 tonnes are transported. The total weight in operation is 100 tonnes. Four of the five axles are positively steered, which makes the vehicle extremely manoeuvrable. Thanks to the powerful diesel engine and all-wheel drive, it transports twice as much timber in the same time as conventional models. This saves time, fuel – and thus also CO2 emissions.
