Please don‘t get in: Subway runs on the street
When a subway needs to be repaired, it sometimes switches from rail to road for the way to the workshop. The Brandenburg-based haulier Colossus Logistics is specialised in transporting such “colossuses”. The company picked up the wagon of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) with a Doll-3-axle-low bed with BPW axles and transported it from the centre of Berlin to Hennigsdorf in Brandenburg. There the wagon bodies were repaired. Loaded, the transport vehicle had a total weight of around 49 tonnes. The route ran right through the city: the 15-metre long and 20-tonne wagon had to cover around 30 kilometres.
