Big fair guest: a 31-metre “princess“

This lady named “Princess”, a yacht from Holland, almost 31 metres long and more than nine metres high, was a guest at the water sports fair “Boot Düsseldorf”. For a ship of these dimensions, road transport was not an option for the almost 250 kilometres long distance. For this reason, the heavy load experts from the Baden-Württemberg haulier Bohnet transported the “Princess” on a “roll-on/roll-off” pontoon using a special trailer with twelve axle lines from BPW. From the port of the Dutch town of Schiedam, west of Rotterdam, she travelled by inland waterway to the port of Düsseldorf and left the pontoon via a ramp specially built with cranes. A push vehicle helped to overcome the gradient from the Rhine up to the exhibition grounds.
